Since 2010, I have enjoyed the CBS show, Blue Bloods. Along with a significant number of the viewing public, I am appalled by CBS' decision to cancel this show. It is still very popular. It captures a very high share of the audience for its broadcast slot compared to other shows airing at the same time. What more could a network want? "Swat" will take over this allowed place on Friday nights going forward. Although I like "Swat", I do not feel it carries the same gravitas and appeal as "Blue Bloods". The current actors portraying the characters on "Blue Bloods" are dismayed by the decision to cancel this show while it is still enjoyed by many, many viewers. Shame on CBS is my refrain.
While watching Chapter 1 of Horizon, I was totally engrossed in the story. Even though the film was three hours long, I did not get bored. Yes there were many characters and various subplots. This was the beginning of a saga. It was laying the ground work for the stories to come. I felt it was much like a book that in the first chapters you get to know the characters and begin to see each of their situations at the start of their involvement in a complicated tale. I for one am looking forward to the coming narrative.
After reading some of the reviews of this film, I felt some folks were not grasping the idea of more to come. It seems to me that this first offering was Costner's way of introducing us to the people who would be important in the next installments. He was piquing our curiosity. Bring on the next broadcasts. I am looking forward to them.

I tuned into this series without much expectation. After all I viewed it during the writers and actors strike, so there was not much of interest to watch. What a pleasant surprise. The acting, the writing, the sets were top notch. Not knowing the story behind the difficulties of making "The Godfather" was a revelation. Matthew Goode and Miles Teller were spectacular. All the actors were so good. I didn't recognize Giovani Ribisi, that's how wonderful and believably he became a Mafia boss.
Al Ruddy, the producer of the "The Godfather", had to overcome so many obstacles to get that film made. I don't remember the controversy at the time when the film was being made. It is an interesting piece of cinematic history. Do yourself a favor. Try the first episode. You will be hooked.
