Sanjay Leela Bhansali has chosen to narrate an untold story that is a dark reality of the pre partition Indian culture. Movies like Umraojaan were only a teaser of how the sex workers were glorified as 'Tavaifs' but their ordeals were no less. I'm reading a lot of comments that are throwing a negative light on the series, however after watching the drama I think the director has done a great job. The narrative is great but the choice of certain actors could have been different. A lot of new faces sometimes leave audience confused and judgemental of the performance despite the fact that they are doing justice to the role. In such series with multiple protagonists, we as viewers agree and relate with one character more than the other. This leaves room for critics and viewers to increased number of opinionated reviews. Overall, the series is a great entertainment and will pick up viewership in the due course of time.
It may sound kiddish to many but in my opinion the director has done a fantastic job with story telling. Robots are this close to getting real. The movie may have gone a little too far from reality but that's what a good director does: convincing the audience to believe its creation. It is a beautiful movie and both lead actors have done a great job too. The comedy factor throughout and the story ending in the way to make Aryan realise that Sifra is after all a Robot and will malfunction and will not be as emotional as a humans are, is done seamlessly. All in all it is a cute well directed movie. I question the comprehension of audience who love movies like Animal and condemn movies like these just because they don't believe that Indian cinema can do justice to sci fi.
It's a must watch movie and the director has been very mindful in portraying a dark movie with none of the characters going overboard or overacting. If you liked darlings then this is a step ahead for sure. Indian cinema is truly evolving. There is thrill throughout and no where will you feel that the characters are losing the plot. Seasoned actors have proved once again that good acting takes over everything else. Kudos to the director because end of the day it's the director who keeps the audience engaged by making the actors deliver what is intended. Two hours of perfect entertainment so just go for it.
