I know this is not the Hercule Poirot or the Ariadne Oliver that we cam to know in the David Suchet series and a hand full of other actors. This does not seem the same as the other Kenneth Branagh presentations. So, it is surprising that they base this upon the novel "Hallowe'en Party" by Agatha Christie.

It helps to know some of the main characters background. However, from there this is a stand-alone presentation. Kenneth (Hercule Poirot) looks a tad older, and Tina (Ariadne Oliver) is just as cute as ever. The closing credit show the actors names. It would be better if they showed the actors pictures to place them with the names.

Basic story is Hercule is famous and retired. Ariadne is stumped and askes Hercule to assist her in a strange case on Halloween. Naturally nothing is as it seems and perhaps there is something supernatural. Of course, we know Poirot, so we are prepared for layer upon layer upon layer of mystery. We miss things the first time around trying to out detect. Then the second time around notice the missing clues. And again, for the spooky fun.

The first thing you notice is everyone has the same speech impediment. Closed caption can help but only to a point. Then you realize it is more than an impediment as they use words that are not in the dictionary. And such a repertory of potty mouth.

Now back to the story. Delinquents and delinquent want-a-bees are in the middle of rehab when they are caught in a freak storm. It adjusts their lives but not their speech.

We realize that there are 37 more episodes. Yes 37 episodes of over and over again potty mouths, gratuitous sex, and gore. These are super heroes of just a lot more misfitting. If you think it started "off" and could not go down hill from here wait until season 4, or not.

You may ask "Who are all these weird actors?" Well, they are all secondaries that have actually been in similar series. Yea this is not some stand alone barfing session, as there are more series with similar characters.

There are a gazillion detective programs with a bazillion gimmicks. We have natural and supernatural; we have stand alone and teams (sometime animals or aliens.)

This tricky little ditty is math oriented. As if we did not know it already, we are treated to how to detect evil cabals and just downright evil people with math tricks. Overlapping this are hallmark verging on soap opera stories about the family and friends involved.

Aside from indulging in mathematical formulas and theories, this takes place in the Los Angeles region so for people that know the area it is fun to hear name dropping of Cities and places nearby.

This critter lasted for six seasons, and they never ran out of fresh ideas. It is worthy of re-watching and binging.
