Make no mistake that if you enjoy shows that have a new concept, intricate stories, and unforeseen reveals then this show is for you. However, and I can't stress this enough, this show's pacing makes you earn everything there is to enjoy. There's a lot of silent staring, long hallway shots, and meandering actors. If they rectify this in season 2 it would be a solid 9/10.
I started watching strictly because of Harold Perrineau was cast and he again did not disappoint. I like the directing style and acting has been good and the show has potential to expand on the depth of the story. I hope this show doesn't decline into jump scares and twists rather than good writing (ahem, Walking Dead). I haven't found any characters I love, but, there have been a couple that made me upset so the show is connecting and I look forward to new episodes.
This is exactly what the DC universe should be about. The show is intentionally gimmicky because it's based on a comic book, but, the extreme violence and serious undertones and commentary make it a very well-rounded show. DC overall has taken itself too seriously to their own detriment and Peacemaker has given some hope that they'll get their act right. In summary: if you like Deadpool but wanted some commentary on social issues and mental health then this is perfect for you.
