  • Disturbing age gap

Im wondering why I'm not reading more comments on the age gap between the filmlovers, i found it unsettling to watch as i kept thinking: but that could be her son! A 30y age difference is very much of a parent-child gap. It just feels icky and by its nature abusive to me (I'm around Kidmans age.) Irrispective of the sexes, I'd feel exactly the same aboit it if it were reversed.

The acting is fine, some moments very good. However, although I'm all for a film exploring older female sexuality, i dont think this does women much favors. Very staid dynamics in some ways, however 'wild' the spin.

And even though this is a by the by, i do find it hard going having to watch NK's so plasticised, expressionless face. It's obviously her own business what she does but it makes me sad. Im sure she would have had a beautiful softly lined face had she chosen the natural route. Oh well, sign of the times.

  • Excellent and original

Canceled?!!!?? Unbelievable, Netflix comes up with something truly original and they then cancel it.

Anyways, it's a fun retelling of greek myths, high quality acting and beautiful cinematography. I'm in my fities and bingewatched it with my 19y old son who was even more into it then I. Then mentioned it to my 85y old mom who enjoyed it so much that she's been telling all her friends - so a wide demographic or what!

Prior knowledge about the myths is not necessary, it probably adds extra layers of enjoyment but not a prerequisit, it's fun which ever way. And as mentioned i thought the design and filming were excellent - beautiful colors, sets, angles - high cinema quality. I was really looking foward to the new season to see what they'd come up with next... Netflix doesn't know a good thing when they have it.

  • Surprising!

I'm not sure what i expected going into this film - the original WSS was part of the tapestry growing up, so i certainly felt compelled to see this remake. I found I'd forgotten most of the story, though every single song and melody came back to me along the way. The cinematography was gorgeous, the energy quite electrifying, but what really caught me by surprise was the growing intensity of the unfolding story. Despite the glimmer of hope in its ending it left me feeling sad for humanity. In that respect it is a story of all ages, unfortunately.

Shout out for Rita Moreno and the actress who played Anita. Though I thought everyone did an excellent job All in all a beautiful film by Spielberg, Berstein, Sondheim & co.
