Retired early due to an injury and watching film & television, and reading, are now my major pastimes and leaving reviews here is a relatively new thing that I enjoy, though I joined IMDb a lot earlier and wish I had started reviewing then, but there just wasn't time. I've been an avid filmgoer since a child, so the only difference now is that my screen size has been reduced to 65 inches, though I still get to theaters occasionally. I only review films that I've seen in the past if I have recently viewed them again. I find sometimes that memories are sometimes not truly accurate for me as I watch some things that I remembered as being larger, more action packed, more suspenseful, more frightening, and, especially, more humorous. And, of course, some films just don't hold up, always a disapointment, and our tastes change, our standards change, and man, how humor changes! I am so grateful for all that cinema has provided me with over the years.

  • Never heard of this, but the title grabbed me

Odd little horror film about two besties going out together for the last time before one moves away and their adventures that night which turns out, much to the surprise of one, to be primarily is about "drug" smuggling, or so they are led to believe. It's also a love story, a coming out story which eventually leads to them being held captive by a raving lunatic played by the near unrecognizable Mark Patton chewing the scenery. That's a lot for a 96 minute horror movie. It's never boring, sometimes predictable, a bit gross and includes some excruciating physical acts that I don't think are possible in the time frame that they take place. Cooper Koch plays the "surprised" friend and he is pretty good.

  • Will pass the time

1980's sci-fi produced some doozies. This isn't one of them as it's a bit better than the usual schlock from this decade, though of course not all of it was bad, It's impossible not to be reminded of the great Alien with an underwater theme instead of outer space. The cast is typical of this era. Peter Weller is okay, Richard Crenna is wooden, Meg Foster gives one of her usual creepy performances. Those eyes! Everybody else does what they're supposed to do. The production isn't bad, but we witness very little of the underwater alien. This is nothing special.

  • The beginning

If you are looking for excitement, don't look here. This well made apocalyptic film is very slow moving as life probably would be if you were the last person alive on Earth and that is what this film is about. I truly expected this to be a piece of junk, but it is more than that, though there are quite a few issues. Through near constant narration we learn we are told that first there was a pandemic that killed billions followed by a war that killed the rest. Later we hear about what sounds like an alien invasion. Perhaps that is who the war was with?! It is never made clear. The narration itself could also be a bit better, but cinematography is quite good and the acting by the lead, Natalia Reyes, is very strong much of the time. It's a hard role to pull off being the only person on screen, though later joined by a German Shepard. It's about a solitary life among the ruins leaving us with just her and the dog. There is an enormous question hanging over this that is never answered. Why only her? What makes her so special? I did really like the last scene which implies that this is the beginning of a new world.
