When I was interested in creative writing I was taught that an author should never use his characters as personal mouth pieces - evidently these authors have never heard of that rule.
The FL is a mouthpiece extraordinaire for a doctrine her country does not follow. I found it offensive in the extreme.
The writing is not brilliant - it is full of tropes and box ticking and some scenes are embarrassing in their stage management - especially when the FL is allowed to get on her soap box and spout her brilliance to an amazed crowd of colleagues. She is not a good actress she doesn't have the charisma to carry it off even if it was believable.
The progress is telegraphed to such an extent that it is risible.
I don't know what has happened to the Korean Wave - it is fizzling out as we speak with inferior productions with unknown actors and poor writers taking over Netflix. I am not sure if it can be halted now as money overrides everything and Netflix is swamping itself with cheap and nasty content.

Coffee is supposed to wake you up - unfortunately this series put me to sleep in virtually every episode. Mainly because there is no story and no ending.
The actors were ok - they just didn't have anything to do except play out stories that depended on tropes. The overworking daughter - the sick mother, the heavy metal drummer hiding from the world etc. The endless smile of the cafe owner - his refusal to tell the truth for absolutely no good reason - what difference would it have made - absolutely none. The endless - and I mean endless - talk about various types of coffee beans - just the writer showing off and boring the pants off me to do it.
I literally worked hard to keep awake to finish this show - and the game wasn't worth the candle in the end. I wonder why the young assistant disappeared from the acting profession - it wouldn't surprise me if this series was the reason.
