If you came to this film hoping for an epic follow up to the original film, you'll be sorely disappointed. Joaquin Phoenix really brought depth to the loveable Batman villain in the original. He made him relatable and manifested the schizophrenia that started Arthur's downfall.
I really wanted to like this film and nearly did at points in the film. Lady Gaga is awesome but even she could not save this film. It's such a different film format to the original and tonally is all over the place. The writing was not great. Ultimately, I think this film was doomed from the beginning because the director decided to take a different direction...and ultimately failed.

As mentioned in the title, the modern day remake of this cult classic has only been matched by the likes of this video game, which in itself is now a classic. It pays homage to the original film starring Harrison Ford and you genuinely feel the dystopian world coming to life as the protagonist moves through a murder mystery that takes some incredible twists and turns.
To top it all off, there's great voice acting and music to accompany the supreme writing. So you're basically left with a cinematic masterpiece almost forgetting that you're playing a video game and not in a home cinema! Hope this game makes a modern-day comeback!

This has got to be one of my favourite strategy games of in the history of RTS gaming. And kudos to the producers who made this masterpiece - they took the time, even for a game extension to give it a meaningful storyline with compelling characters and indeed, great actors to accompany the script.
I just wish that they still made RTS games like this and moreover, utilized realtime cutscenes instead of all this CGI nonsense. Hopefully one day Command and Conquer Red Alert universe will make its comeback - either in the form of a movie or television series. Anyway, one can only dream am I right?
