Yes. I gave this film a 10 star rating. Does it deserve it because its a masterpiece...
Er No..
Based on The Pirates of Penzance It's an incredibly camp and some very corney comedy and even sillier original songs.
But some how it made me secretly kinda like it.
The fact that everyone looks like they're having the best time of they're lives makes this viewer smile.
But does that make this film 10... Still no.. The reason this movie is a 10 for me.
Is that it made me fall for the girl that would eventually become my wife.
My chat up line was, what's your favourite movie?
She said The Pirate Movie.
Through her eyes I saw the movie in a new way.
It's our go to movie when life is getting too serious.
Coz these days life is way too serious and we need films like The Pirate to remind us. No. Give us a Happy Ending.. Even if it only for 90 odd minutes.. That's why it gets a 10!
But some how it made me secretly kinda like it.

But Lets be clear The Specials is a low key, Low budget comic satire on Superhero's . Practically no FX no explosions.
The Specials are the 4th or 5th best Superhero team in the world. They operate out of a suburban detached house and they are dysfunctional. The comedy is all from the interactions of its characters. The film brilliantly sends up corporate involvement in super hero culture and points the way for things to come. Its worth a watch because James Gunn has gone on to bigger things but but without compromising his style..
