I know this TV is an adaptation of a famous science fiction from a German novelist and I know it would be hard to ask people not to compare the TV version from its original story. As I remember, Stephen King does not like the screen adaptation of his novel " Shining" and said "That's what's wrong with Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining", basically...the movie has no heart; there's no centre to the picture". But somehow, the movie version of " Shining" was a global success and it is still a classic horror movie in this generation.
I have brought the book of "The Swarm" about two decades ago and somehow could not manage the time to finish it because it got a thousand pages. So I won't be able to make comparison between the tv and the book, but I find this tv version entertaining with beautiful ocean scene and creatures, with sufficient computer graphics, with reasonable scientific findings and logical guessing of what's behind of these findings.
The book could be a 10 ( as I haven't finish it) but this tv deserves a 6 despite many have said that it doesn't not come close to its original. I believed that a TV adaptation of a fiction could be good without sticking to the original.

About 10 years ago, the director of this movie tricked several girls from her alma mater to took footages from their daily lives so as to make a documentary either for internal viewing or limited viewing, such as released as DVD for alumni only. Now, this director releases the movie in cinema without some of the girl's consent for financial purpose.
Furthermore, this director once pretended to be a sport news reporter and conducted an interview with a Hong Kong famous athlete, Sarah Lee Wai Sze right after her cycling race, then this director used this interview footage in this movie without that athlete's consent for financial gain as well. That athlete called on her fans to boycott this movie.
I would not recommend this movie to any moral person.

I don't understand the low ratings and bad reviews in here as I found this tv series quite entertaining. I don't expect to watch a psychological horror movie from Eli Roth and won't expect too much escalating horror due to the limited lenth of a TV episode (about 50 mins). And I also don't expect to watch every episode with brand new and unique ideas, it is becasue this project is about turning some urban legends we've heard before into TV graphic horror, probably with a little new idea and a twist, but these new ideas and twists won't be deviated far from the original urban legends, same situation in "American horror stories" as well. If you like Eli Roth's movie, bloody horror and jump scare stuffs, you would enjoyed this TV series.
