This movie exemplifies what has gone wrong with some Netflix productions, especially for movies. It is not enough to have stars, you also need better scripts and weirdly as well as they do with series, this seems more common with their movies.
For a movie starring Tom Hardy and Forrest Whittaker this is a complete let down... The opening scene with the heist is already not a great opening as it looks like something out of a 1980's bad cop show. But it gets worse from there. Somehow, the worst is the first confrontation between the 2 stars' characters. The dialogue is so poor which leads to over-acting to try and make up for it... anyway, if you want your Tom Hardy fix right now, the Mobland series is so much better.

This is apparently a highly anticipated show and in a way I can see why. It could have been good but instead it is not just a disappointment but bad. The casting is terrible. This is supposed to take place in medieval Florence and yet it opens with a bunch of British actresses blabbering on. This could still have worked if the plot made any sense and if the acting had been decent (neither is the case here). You have a city in the middle of the plague with people living a normal life amongst the dead... the show then moves on to some villa in the countryside and somehow it becomes even worse. You can see this was supposed to be a comedy on a dark subject. Instead you have a show which is a joke. So don't waste your time and go watch something else (Tokyo Swindlers for example is excellent)
