The characters are possibly the best from a short film made by Budget Media. George Groziers performance as Jayden Harper is his best performance in a short film yet. The others characters are alright. Simon could've had more development as a whole. The chief and Lesley aren't the greatest characters ever but they do the job. Compared to other short films directed by Jack Vickers this can be seen as the best but also the weakest depending on what you like. For the overall structure and characters this great. But compared to the editing and soundtrack of the Project Thorn films this seems to lack.
By far the best budget short film. There's character development which is a first. And the characters are different and unique compared to previous character in these short films. The plot is stupid but it fits the obvious comedic tone the film is going for. The chemistry is at its best in the first half as the second half is more focussed on the shark. I enjoyed seeing these characters talk and get to know eachother. It was fun which I like. The shark could've had more screen time but the plot twist is so stupid it makes up for it. The only slight negative is that this does end quick and randomly when there feels like there should've been more.
It's the best quality short film ever made. But the level of comedy and fun does carry this. The story is what you'd expect and the performances are average. But the combination of serious music and the fun unchoreographed fight scenes is a blast. Although this is only 4:46 minutes in length it feels like 20 minutes for some reason, the lacing is somehow good so it's strange how it feels so long. The Birthdsy is a fun action comedy film that has many flaws but with the good comedy and funny premise makes for a fun time that will not waste 4 minutes of you day. Better than The Hood and the old VW duo.
