  • Superfluous franchise ender

Enjoyed the first one and thought a sequel may have potential, but...

Without spoilers, the dialogue was clunky / forced and the always dependable Kendrick was left having to carry the thin plot to a great extent. Could have been much better possibly, definitely more interesting, if she was playing an additional character instead. Otherwise, maybe just have her Stephanie character in a whole new situation.

Usually like Paul Feig, but didn't seem he was either invested enough or maybe able to stamp himself on the movie. Where previously he's shown wit or charm, this seemed very much a movie by numbers. Adding the odd needless "shock" situation was just desperate and more icky than inspired. Don't think there'll be Yet Another Simple Plan, but if there is then count me out, thanks.

  • Promising start and talented cast.

Aimee Lou Wood is new to me, but so impressed. A very engaging, natural actor who the camera seems to love. A UK Jenna Ortega even? Fresh presence, who I could also see being deeply effective in a heavy tv drama.

Have enjoyed David Morrissey for decades and will be intriguing to see how his weak/wet father character develops.

Hoping this show maintains the fresh approach and sharp splashes of wit ("Argos vouchers" etc).

Could be a great year for BBC comedy, who have already blessed us with inspired female roles and writing, allowing them free reign. I'd also recommend Such Bad Girls. Well observed and arrived fully-formed. Inspired slapstick and clever throwaway lines, while not shying away from mental issues with a deft / realistic touch.

A solid first episode, with 2 unusually strong, individual leads. Hoping the show continues not taking the obvious routes and flushing out support roles.

  • "All of it is me, none of it is me" - great, modern artist

Annie Clark / St Vincent has been consistently smart, innovative, humble and humourously knowing. She's a modern artist, made for the screen. A rare talent, sharp as a tack.

This is great if you are a fan, but also turned me into one, as I then trawled through her back catalogue (I knew the Polyphonic Spree, but was unaware of her) and was blown away - better late than never.

This documentary tries to play with the format - and that of mockumentaries. Not always successfully, but always sincerely and from a good place. The concert footage is Cracked Actor/Ziggy good and I always appreciate all Carrie B's work.

Glad this was made in this style, as would be too easy for such a talent or management to just present fans with the usual safe, commercial fodder. Just luxuriate in St Vincent's musicality.
