  • Another example of Hollywood trying to ruin a genre

While it seems clear from the description, the title, and the cover that they were going for a modern day rom-com taking inspiration from the early 2000's and 2010's rom-coms, they failed (in my opinion). The movie comes off weird, creepy and seemingly lacking any knowledge on the experiences and characters that they were attempting to portray; it felt like someone asked an AI to write a teen rom-com with a smart female lead and let it fill in the rest of the details. Pretty sure the intended audience for the movie was teenage girls and young women, I could see how they wouldn't hate it, but if you are anyone outside of that group and you enjoy the movie I have some serious questions about you and your character. None of the film was believable, most of it was not funny, the messaging was preachy and cringe, and the story was equal parts weird, gross, and cringy; it's supposed to be a teen rom-com and none of the actors even remotely resemble teenagers from there acting, there dialog, or there looks.

  • Every fathers nightmare turned wet dream

Although this is not a terrible movie, it was clearly written for, and exclusively meant to be watched, by middle aged fathers. The best way that I could describe this would be as a guys version of a Hallmark crime drama, trying to remake Taken. The action was alright, not exactly believable, but satisfying; the plot, if you can really call it that, was expected but still watchable; and the acting, while bad, was still campy and mildly enjoyable/watchable. Honestly, one of the weirdest parts of the movie, that made it hardest to watch, was the fact that so many of the actors clearly had veneers, and it was weirdly obvious that they did.

If you are a middle aged man looking for a tv movie version of Taken then this is the movie for you, if you're anyone else then maybe give this a pass.

  • Should have been a good movie

Just looking at the cast and plot an action lover would think this was going to be a great movie, but it failed on nearly every level. I went in trying to give it a chance, ignoring the bad rating, because I love all the leading actors in the cast; Aaron Eckhart usually delivers when he's in an action film; Abigail Breslin is usually charming and witty; and I always love the snark, sarcasm, and attitude that Tim Roth brings to any project he is in. While most of the cast didn't underdeliver on their expected performance the story/plot was so atrocious that it completely took away from any enjoyment you could take from the movie. The plot seemed to be written by a grade schooler, or AI, and the choreography of the action scenes seemed to be directed by someone that only ever saw the worst of Star Wars action scenes.

If you like explosions, a terrible plot where every scene is telegraphed 5 minutes before it happens, and only the "good guys" can hit the broad side of the barn then this is the movie for you. But honestly, even if you liked all those things there's still at least 10 terrible movies that I can think of that would still be better than this one.
