This is one of the better 90s action movies, it has a decent plot, great action scenes and doesn't lose focus. Kurt Russel is great too, not his best role but just like Costner, you believe him. Both know how to convey emotion with a look, but in my humble opinion Costner just does it better in this movie.
I only wish the heist scene was a little longer and a little more intense. It's really well done, perhaps a bit fantastical, but most of us have no idea about the technical stuff anyways. So a bit of Hollywood fantasy is perfectly fine.
An actual security expert would likely pick the scene apart, but we average Joe's and Jane's are easily fooled.
That's really what a movie has to do, it has to be "convincing enough" for us to go along with the MAGIC and THIS MOVIE DOES THAT.
A couple downsides; Ice T is not the best actor, but he is decent enough for small roles, except in this movie I feel they kind of wasted his character. They couldve written him out of it completely and had the same movie.
The short scenes with nudity werent really necessary, no idea why they put that in outside of wanting to perv on the young fox Courtney Cox.
I dont mind it so much but it doesnt add to the story and likely will make for an awkward couple minutes if you watch this with your family haha.
The 2 FBI agents were also forgettable, Thomas Haden Church is a great actor, but I felt absolutely nothing from the FBI or U. S. Marshall investigation, the whole movie really is between Kurt Russell, Kevin Costner and Courtney Cox + her son
in short; Watch this movie, it's great fun, don't mind the reviews too much they are very nit-picky.

In short; An a-typical Father and Son struggle
it's mostly about Michael Fassbender's character Chad and his struggles as a traveller.
You see the crummy conditions they live in, some of the prejudices and the actions that pretty much legitimize the prejudice. I mean I wouldn't by a bike of chad or a trailer for that matter. Still this film made me sympathize with Chad and his wife and kids. This movie basically just shows you Chad and the choices he makes and the results of those choices and his reasoning for them.
His upbringing is most of the cause, in my opinion, as at one point he says; "I wish I had went to school, I really do." Goes to show that he knows he is living wrong at times, not wrong in the sense of Law and Order, but in the sense of coming up short for his wife and kids.
If I gave you my opinion on Chad, well he's an idiot and a scumbag and belongs in jail.
Still you can't fault a man for living his life as he sees fit as long as he doesn't hurt anybody.

Buddy Cop, maybe, but it's a little darker and the suspense is greater. Picture Beverly Hills Cop, but darker and more emotional, with greater stakes. The scenery is awesome, Dekotora trucks, neon signs, beautiful women, just great all around.
This movie really showed a bit of Japan and Japanese culture. Now I'm no expert, but this looked really authentic.
I don't think there was a single scene in this movie that was wasted, you either learn something new or get thrown into some action that leads to another avenue of possibilities, meanwhile our Hero Nick Conklin ( Michael Douglas ) is still on edge, trying to get the bad guy.
The fight scenes were realistic and not too showy, the criminals made rational decisions, I don't think there was anything in the whole movie that would make you think it was fake.
I will say, there are some gruesome scenes and eh... not for kids under 13, trust me it gets pretty gnarly.
