The TV series was set in Los Angeles with Detective Renée Ballard as she takes command of the LAPD's newly formed Cold Case Division. She lead the division in a basement primarily staffed by volunteers and poorly funded. The show has a created an odd set of characters that help tell a compelling story - a story that was skillfully written by Michael Connelly and adapted by the Ballard writers for the screen. The units mission is clearing decades-old homicides and assaults. As Ballard reopens cold or unsolved investigations, her team uncovers a conspiracy of corruption and cover-ups that had several bad cops involved. The series combines cold-case mysteries with a serial killer involving a mysterious conspiracy.
The movie centers around an old, retired rodeo winner with a back injury who enters a high-dollar bull-riding competition to pay for medical bills with a family member he deeply loves. As he trains, prepares, and competes, the former rodeo star remembers his ugly past, discovers faith, and makes sure his family is put first (after resolving his anger issues with God).
Without giving anything away, there are a few twists and turns as the story unfolds giving added dimension to each of the characters and broadens the width and depth of the movie. I particularly liked the ending which was unexpected. Enjoy this gem!

Disney's live-action remake, Snow White (2025), veers away from the original magic of Walt Disney's Snow White and the original tale. I was open to the reimagining of this classic movie but unfortunately, it fails to deliver. From lackluster performances to miscasting key roles, this film misses with audiences (at least my showing tonight).
We can all agree that Rachel Zegler who takes on the classic tale of Snow White, delivers a performance that feels stilted and unimaginative. Her acting lacks the warmth and charisma that made the original animated Snow Whitesuch a hit.
For a film with a $260 million dollar production budget, the CGI looks fake and the CGI creatures lack the expressions, warmth, and charm of the original characters.
The dwarfs have been controversially reimagined look evil and creepy.
Don't waste an evening on this disappointing reimagined disaster.
