This film did an excellent job portraying the life and challenges of Bhagat Ravidas. Going from a shoemaker to a saint who defeats a high-caste Brahmin in a spiritual showdown, while maintaining his humility, the film makes an inexplicable case for all humans to life a life exemplified by Ravidas Ji.
The songs/prayers and music in the film allow viewers to musically connect and form an emotional bond with Ravidas Ji's yearning to find God.
My only complaint is that the film does not include subtitles in Panjabi or wasn't made/dubbed in Panjabi. It should be done for all Indian languages, to spread the message and teachings of Bhagat Ravidas Ji.

An excellent film on Chamkila and Punjab in the 80s. As a die-hard Chamkila fan, I believe this film did a great job portraying the harsh realities of the artist's environment and life, as well as his lifestyle. Chamkila was born to be an entertainer, and Diljit is the same. Diljit fits this role so well, and I can thik of no one else better to play Chamkila.
Many memorable quotes in the movie. Screenplay is excellent.
My only beef is that the movie is in Hindi and not Panjabi. I am happy that the movie kept the songs in Panjabi and included original photographs. Movie did a great job in accuracy.

Overall a very good effort on a grassroots level to tell the other side of the narrative (vs White Paper). Film/documentary fails to address two major points for viewers: 1. Why did Jarnail SIngh Bhindranwale migrate to the Akal Takht? 2. Why should we care about Operation Bluestar today? What relevance does it have in our lives? What can we learn from this annual observance? What do we gain from reflecting every year instead of just forgetting about it?
Film does have important details and does well to appeal on an emotional level to viewers. Trailer gives too much away and leaves only emotional ramblings left in the film.
