Predator: Badlands

  • Predator: Badlands - The Worst Hunt in Franchise History

If there's ever been a film that carries the name "Predator" yet completely fails to grasp even the most basic essence of the franchise - its rhythm, atmosphere, or sense of threat - that film is undoubtedly Predator: Badlands. At best, it can be described as a failed exercise in mimicking a legend - a film devoid of the Predator's spirit, menace, and that primal suspense that defined the originals.

The director clearly has no understanding of the Predator universe. In an attempt to recreate tension and violence through cheap digital effects and noisy framing, he has only produced visual chaos. Scenes that should feel grand or mysterious are instead filled with illogical lighting, aimless editing, and an overall lack of visual reasoning. The whole thing feels more like a pretentious student project, where the filmmaker has confused "personal style" with "visual disorder." In Badlands, there is no character development, no narrative arc, not even a reason to care about what's happening. The characters are so shallow and faceless that by the film's midpoint, the audience has stopped caring whether they live or die. The dialogue is artificial, lifeless, and often laughable - as if written by an AI that has never actually seen an action movie.

The Predator itself - the symbol of the ultimate hunter - looks more like a person in a plastic Halloween costume. The production design and visual effects are so weak that it constantly feels like a cheap '90s TV movie. Instead of inspiring fear, the film turns the Predator into a visual joke - a creature that no longer frightens, but amuses.

The performances are directionless; there's no sense of control or dramatic understanding. Every move and reaction feels clichéd and hollow, and in moments meant to evoke fear or tension, the only thing that comes across is confusion.

Predator: Badlands isn't just a bad movie - it's an outright assault on the cinematic legacy of the franchise. The director has proven he neither respects the mythos of Predator nor possesses the ability to create something new within it. He has reduced the Predator brand to the level of a dull YouTube video, squandering both audience trust and studio credibility.

If there's any respect left for the name Predator, the first step should be removing this director from any future projects - permanently.

  • SO BAD! We need more action, less talking.

Episode 6 is where the momentum should have exploded. After five episodes of setup-introducing characters, building the world, and laying down the stakes-viewers were expecting the payoff: raw action, suspense, and the thrill of survival. Instead, what they got was another slow, dialogue-heavy chapter that drags when it should ignite.

The pacing feels off. Scenes linger too long, stretching tension to the point of fatigue rather than excitement. Conversations dominate where decisive action should be, and the supposed moments of suspense collapse under the weight of unnecessary buildup. The result is an episode that feels padded rather than purposeful.

This is frustrating because the groundwork has already been laid. The audience doesn't need more backstory or explanation-they need urgency. By holding back, Episode 6 risks alienating its own viewers, leaving them with the impression that the series is circling around itself instead of driving forward.

In short: Episode 6 was supposed to deliver adrenaline but instead stalls in neutral. At a point where action should define the narrative, the series hesitates-and the audience feels it.

  • Stop making movies Gareth Edwards.

Among the sea of aimless sequels plaguing today's cinema, Jurassic World: Rebirth manages to stand out - not just as a failure, but as a full-blown disaster. What elevates this film from simply bad to truly unbearable is not just its empty script or soulless CGI, but the shockingly incompetent direction and lifeless, painfully awkward performances from the cast.

The director, seemingly under the illusion that dropping a few digital dinosaurs into frame is enough to generate tension, appears to have completely forgotten that cinema is first and foremost a narrative art. There is no sense of pacing, suspense, or storytelling cohesion here. The film plays like a stitched-together mess of scenes that are neither dramatic, nor thrilling, nor even tolerable.

Sequences are so poorly constructed it's hard to believe any coordination existed between the technical team, the actors, or even basic shot planning. Even during high-stakes moments, the director fails to convey fear, urgency, or emotion-leaving us with nothing but a loud, tiresome barrage of dinosaur roars, as if the creatures themselves are embarrassed to be involved.

As for the actors: unmotivated, stiff, and astonishingly disconnected. Not one of them seems to have understood their character-let alone inhabited it. Reactions to danger, fear, or joy are delivered with the emotional depth of a table read. The performances are so wooden and unconvincing, they resemble amateur acting exercises more than a polished studio release.

What's most damning is that neither the director nor the cast seem aware of the kind of film they're supposed to be making. The result is a product that is directionless, senseless, and utterly devoid of soul-bearing no connection to the legacy of Jurassic Park and only serving to stain the franchise's name further.

If Rebirth was meant to revive this saga, the only thing it truly resurrects is the question: Who in their right mind greenlit this project?
