While the actors and actresses were brilliant, this is a film that got lost in theatre. I think the viewers will appreciate it more on stage as it is musical.
This movie is shown twice in the Philippines, it didn't make a noise on its first release and it is shown again to compete with another movie with the hope that it will gain support to its patronage who hates the Marcoses.
Cinematography wise, I feel it's just redundant to everything that is already shown on youtube and old documentaries, this just adds to those already piled up movies of Martial law.
Putting romance on the film/musical was too forced for me. It is lost in translation in so many levels.

Unfortunately, some reviews of this movie is politicized and given negative reviews by the Marcos haters even before it is shown in cinemas. The movie only started showing in Philippine cinema on August 3rd and it was a blockbuster hit. Tickets were already sold out by August 2, and cinemas had to add another cinema house and slot for people who walked in to watch.

Judging by the art of the film, it was made with brilliance. The timing, the plot, the story, even with a lot of conversations was not boring, it was intense and really impacting.
Maid in Malacanang is a heartwrenching untold story of what the Marcos family went through, days before Cory took office.. it's actually more of a drama and comedy film.
No scenes nor script in the film, of the Marcos family bad mouthing the Aquinos.
The plot conveyed unknown details of events but it is left to the viewers how to judge such information given.
It may be more of a personal family story rather than historical, but it will give us a lesson we never knew we were missing.
To me, the film is an opportunity for us Filipinos.
