For those of you whom gave this movie a poor review!! Here comes a writer that tells us exactly what society today is all about and what they can do to a struggling, well meaning person!
The world we live in today destroys the most sensitive and the most well meaning individual. They can be pushed into a position where they see no way out.
In a world and in a society where individuals are merely seeing things from their own perspectives, rules and regulations and are not willing to see beyond their judgements and believes... You're part of the problem. I hope that everyone watching this movie comes to realize that changes must be made.
Changes in laws, government agencies and individuals that create / aggravate the problems. We have become complacent thinking it's all right to act and judge according to our own way of thinking or what has been ingrained in our brain. I know too well the struggles of a single mom and I don't think this movie is just about black or white. I see a single mom struggling against society's oppression. ...all who gave it a poor review add to the problem of such society.

In the awfulness of the world, this is the kind of movie we need more of. The kind of movie I would love my grandkids to see with me! No blood, sex or serial killers. No imaginary superheroes that'll make the world a better place by fixing it for them instantaneously. This movie has many lessons to be learned: 1. That we can overcome child abuse, neglect and heal positively for the better.
2. That a child from any social class can learn, overcome and become successful through hard work in music and the arts regardless.
3. That Cancer is no joke and doesn't discriminate.
4. That things in life are not always how we thought they were.
It's amazing how many poor reviews a heartwarming movie gets! If it had a lot of sex, murder, vulgarity, etc...etc... it probably would have gotten many more excellent comments.
If we rate a movie considering it's message, the effort put in to deliver the message and the hard work of all involved, beginning with the writer, there's no doubt that this movie it's worth decent ratings and worthwhile comments!

The story of dominance and abuse the laborers of the sugarcane plantations were submitted to is well documented as well as the intents of the laborers at rebellion though personally I would have liked a little more of it . This is story of a sugarcane plantation peasant whose wife is taken from him and how he takes his machete and his daughter to find and fight his way to his beloved. The action is abundant and true to the old westerns. The actors demonstrated excellence in their performance both the "good and the bad." It was an experience worth my going back to a movie theater after many years away. Congratulations to all involved in the making of this film!
