I really tried to like it but it was all 'show' and no 'go'.
This movie was a 'how to' for budding filmmakers, sure, the director is a master, the costume designer did their research, the sets were accurate, the score not bad. But how about a little story telling, character building or intrigue? The technical skills were on show but the story telling was drab and drawn out. It's almost as if in the search for recognition the audience was forgotten. It was cut paste for over 3 hours, a murder, a death, another murder interceded with some culture moments, so on and so forth. I didn't connect with or enjoy any of the characters. None of the men had any redeeming features or personality to speak of. I noticed DeNiro unnecessarily repeating himself a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot it was frustrating; move along. Every moment with DiCaprio or Deniro seemed anxiety riddled or creepy. The movie is dark in a way that wasn't planned I'm sure. The highlight was the female lead but even she was dreary, before she got ill. Was everyone on Prozac? I know this movie is based on a true story but a little poetic/dramatic license is required to entertain....and the winner is....not the movie goer.

I tried, i really did, I waited in hope, but alas, it got worse. You're probably thinking by now I got through quite a bit of it, nope, only lasted 1 episode and 8:43.
Yrs it was that bad.
THE WRITING is horrible, thoughtless & a mess. At points it is childish and had me wondering who this was targeted at - Can't be kids, with the male nudity, so dopey adults perhaps. It's really low IQ stuff. The attempted humour is cringe-worthy and the attempted drama is more cringe-worthy.
THE ACTING is atrocious.
THE CASTING is terrible.
THE DIRECTION, we'll there is none.
Sorry to be so negative, but there you have it.
Okay, so maybe it gets better, let me know, but I just couldn't take anymore. Life is too short to waste it.

I'm a 60yo man & old school like the The Marine Admiral 😄. I've never heard of One Piece anime, in fact I'm not into anime at all. But this, this was a complete experience, it is bloody addictive.
The main characters optimism & acceptance of others pursuing their dreams regardless of whether or not he agrees with them or indeed they're the dreams of his enemies is a thing of beauty. The kids attitude to his fellow man is admirable & his attitude toward pursuing his own life should serve as a lesson to us all.
The other characters come together nicely too, each different but each with unique problems & gifts - they gel nicely.
I can't put my finger on why I loved this show, I just did. It's quirky, it's violent, it's gentle, it's about battles, friendships, dreams, courage, fear & loyalty, & all of it done meaningfully.
It's also beautiful to look at.
I hope there is a season 2. It deserves to continue.
Bravo 👏
