I wasn't expecting much when I went to the cinema since the trailers weren't that good so I went with low expectations and found it quite fun. However, there were some bits in the movie which were just... weird and questionable. I loved the meme bits tho and they were probably the most fun part ngl.
Also, I loved their little tribute to Technoblade and his legacy and that was probably the best bit of the movie for me, since I used to be a huge fan of Techno before he died (I watched his entire 10 hour long live stream broadcast where he beats Minecraft with a steering wheel before COVID). It only lasted a few seconds but it meant a lot to me and other Technoblade fans.
I didn't get why they made the piglins the villains of the story when they had enough of a budget to put the ender dragon. Like they didn't even show the end, they only showed the overworld and nether... ?
They also never show any backstory to any of the characters, like Steve doesn't have any sort of family or parents and was literally only shown to "yearn for the mines" when he was a child, and I couldn't connect with the brother and sister.
Overall, I loved the message they said about being creative in the real world and not just in Minecraft, and I loved the meme parts like "water bucket RELEASE!" and "flint and steel!" and my favourite bit was the tribute to Technoblade but some parts were weird and I don't understand why they didn't show the ender dragon and endermen as the main antagonists and scrap the nether plotline entirely. Anyways, the movie is a blast at the cinemas so if you haven't gone yet, please go before it goes off cinemas and you will find it fun.

Season 1, Episode 2 of Squid Game, titled "Hell," deepens our emotional connection to the characters by unveiling their struggles and motivations. This episode serves as a powerful breather after the intense first game, as contestants are given the chance to leave. Through glimpses into their lives, we see Gi-hun's financial desperation, Sang-woo's fall from grace, and Sae-byeok's fight for her family. These backstories humanize the players, showing how societal pressures push them toward the games. The emotional depth and moral dilemmas in this episode amplify the stakes, making us care deeply about their fates when they inevitably return to the deadly competition.
Overall, this episode is great and the show seems excellent so far 👍
