What happens when Jon Favreau, JJ Abrams, Dave Filoni, Joby Harold, and other contemporary Star Wars creators watch Andor? In what order would they rank their embarrassments: they have marginal talent, they trashed the brand, they failed to attract a younger audience, they can't navigate Kathleen Kennedy Suits, they simply don't get it. One could say that the entire Star Wars franchise is for kids. And that unserious hacky flops are the actual ethos. But look at Harry Potter: the creative tone matures as its audience matures. And Potter has zero problem attracting the young audience and bringing them along the content pipeline. But this is not the way of Kathleen Kennedy Suits. Unfortunately Andor is the rare exception. Certainly, its caliber of filmmaking will always make it an exception. It is truly great. Tony Gilroy is a genius. Andor is a golfball-sized diamond.
