After the first couple of episodes I knew this was bad. I mean really bad. But as a service to IMDB I thought I'd watch it so you didn't have to.
I got to episode 12 and it was too much for me. My brain started to shrink. I felt my IQ (not the best anyway) was crumbling. I just couldn't do it. Sorry.
I have no idea which demographic they were aiming for... mentally challenged pre-teens perhaps?
It's appalling. The characters are ill-conceived; the acting is atrocious; the director should be burger-flipping; the production (usually faultless in Korean melodramas) is shoddy, and an uninteresting plot is turgid.
Turgid, yes, that's the word I'm looking for.
Don't. Just Don't.

Oh IMDb-ers, you rarely let me down, but you've done it this time. Seriously, 8.0?
Why on earth do they make these melodramas 16 or even 18 episodes long? SO many words. SO many unnecessary minor characters and plot lines. So much repetition.
Korea has produced some gems, but this is not one of them. The characters are one-dimensional, the acting is by numbers. The production values are fine, but really... you can't hold a viewer's interest with such thin threads.
My ire is directed at fellow reviewers... please be more discerning. Save your praise for the genuinely imaginative, engaging series. Be better, others depend on you.

Sometimes Kdramedies are nice but too wordy. They set out to fill 16 episodes (why?} and one loses interest in the characters, bored with the dialogue, and the plot(s) become confused. Sometimes Korea produces gems... usually light, but with so many pleasing aspects they sparkle.
Mr Plankton (you'll be told why it's called that) is one of those gems. Perhaps because it has just ten episodes, but that's enough to become invested in the characters, be amused by the antics and enjoy the plot development.
Yes, more than a few tears will be shed, but really... this is a mature, light, and entertaining show with very good acting and well-crafted throughout.
You might be sad at the end, but you'll feel better having joined them on their journeys.
Please watch it.
