As someone who grew up playing Sonic, this is a movie you want to be good. I have so many great memories as a kid playing this game (and as an adult lol) so when something infringes on your childhood you want it to be good.
I liked it a lot. I thought the voice for Sonic was perfect but also having Jim Carrey in it was brilliant. I'm a big Carey fan and loved having him in this.
I feel the people that made this really knew who the fans were that were going pay for this are. There have been a lot of video game adaptations that were clearly not made for the fans but I can say they knew what they were doing here. Good animation too.
Loved the sequel and part 3 is coming, I can't wait.

I only watched this because there were a bunch of 9 and 10 star reviews here so I figured this movie was as good as the Godfather but then I watched it or attempted to and I was amazed at how boring it was.
This is a bigfoot movie but it's not a monster movie at all, but man, it's so poorly written and directed it's like watching paint dry. You have to ask yourself how does something liek this get made. Yes, it's very low or no-budget "movie" but how do things like this get out to Amazon or whatever to be seen?
I guess anyone can make a "movie" now.
Upon further inspection all the "reviews' here are done by "people" with one review. This movie. I wonder who all those "people" are?
Don't fall for it folks. Take it from someone who did not work on this amateur-fest. Boring as hell.

I had a hard time getting through the first half of the movie, I'm not going to lie. Once you get past the fact it's talking apes, it's just a story about rival tribes pretty much - and that's not the story but that's what it appears to be for a while.
I almost gave up a couple times I was getting so bored in spots. It definitely picked up the second half and the last act was much better but still - overall, I just don't think it was that great.
Problem is the difference between these movies and the originals - the apes were terrifying. Human were always in peril when it came to be around apes.
These movies and I realize it takes place before the originals, but again, once you get past the talking apes thing, not that "terrifying" or big deal.
This is just my opinion. I know most folks love these and think they're great. I think the Mark Walberg movie was better but I'm the minority.
