  • Machu Picchu

I watched the documentary, "Lost City of Machu Picchu." It was an amazing documentary to watch and taught so much. We learned a little bit about it in my AP world class, but it was interesting to learn more detailed information. The documentary talked about the finding of the lost city and coming to believe that it is the lost city, many burial sites found and what that suggest about the Inca and what they did, the leader of Inca and how he contributed to the building of the city, and why the building process is so important to understand. I enjoyed learning more about Machu Picchu and the Incas who built it. I found it impressive that they were able to build an entire city with it constantly raining and finding a work around that. I have a better appreciation for people back then for being able to build such amazing buildings with limited resources and tools.

  • Suspenseful and Action Packed

Overall, the Davinci Code is an excellent movie that is full of plot twists, suspense, mystery, and action. The writer did a great job of connecting Davinci's inventions and paintings to the plot. For anyone who is looking to learn about history through this movie, it is a great way to connect historical art masterpieces to a plot. From a student's perspective, the writers of the movie went deep into the different theories on Davinci's artwork and the symbolism behind them far more than what we covered in class. This movie may not be great for younger kids but is a great movie for any adult who is looking for an action packed and suspenseful movie.

  • Very helpful and benefical to an AP World History student

I did enjoy watching an episode of "Mankind: The Story of All of Us" titled "The Invention of Gunpowder". It allowed me to learn more about what we had previously learned about in AP World History class. While it was a lot of repetition of the same information we have been learning, it was personally helpful for me to see it demonstrated/explained in a different way. Watching something instead of just hearing/reading about it, allowed me to make more connections that "stick" in my brain better. So, I believe that this activity would be beneficial to an AP World History student because it gives more insight about the invention and importance of gunpowder.
