It was quite clear it was the cult I grew up in in the first 5 seconds of the show, it was so unbelievably funny and accurate the person who wrote it must have grown up in the cult because there was so many tiny things you would only know if you was one, they even got characters down to a T - i could deffo relate also I liked the diversions for copywrite purposes lol it was refreshing to see this and it helps to laugh about this past traumatic life lol I hope they keep it rolling!
The problem is I'm not sure how funny it would be to people who never was in the cult, I don't think it's a relatable or understandable life to others, cult members would definitely not find it funny and most likely would avoid. However for us ex's it's fab gives you a chance to confirm yep you were living that life and thank god your not now- but your not alone so laugh instead of crying (as our ex members have really bad mental health after leaving the jehovahs witnessess or being disfellowshiped ) it shows you the humours side! And also it gives you a chance to show those around you a glimpse of what you had a live through.

I watched the trailer and it looked funny!
I watched the movie and it was terrible I have no idea where they went wrong but it was awful how can you do so bad with such a good cast??
First of all- I don't know what kind of next dimensions the producers and writers were on but who acts like that??? It definitely didn't seem like it was written by ethnic people and the jokes seemed like they were written by the innocent "accidental" racists from my school days - stupid jokes like ha ha is that your hair or did you get it from a shop/ can you take your hair off do you have hair underneath it? Where are you from- no where are you really from -you get the jist-those kind of stupid jokes and endless questions.
It brought nothing fresh and new to the table it just felt so forced i've seen better comedy skits on tiktok.
I've met many women like this mother in law (most are genuinely curious) - I've come across so many beaming exited people that have ignorant questions to ask or speaking out of turn with racist subjects or acutal insults but this was silly and I felt it tried to subliminally show that we are petty and blow things out of proportion, so no not a fan.
