If you're going into My Tiny Senpai looking for anything deep, you'll be disappointed. But remember: this is comfort food anime. It's made to be cute and heartwarming and it succeeds wonderfully.
The main draw here is the title character, Shiori Katase, who is as adorable a character as you can find. Think Senko-san mixed with a bit of Pikachu. Some might complain that she's a little TOO perfect, that she's more a personification of a male ideal than an actual character, but you know what? Men need characters to enjoy too.
Unlike a lot of rom-com animes, this one at least spends as much time with Katase as with the male lead, Shinozaki. It's actually a fair balance and it's nice to see how their relationship evolves.
This is the perfect anime to put on while you're trying to recover from Elfen Lied, Attack on Titan or any other number of emotionally devastating stories.

A lot of people consider No Country for Old Men to be the best effort from the Coens, and while that movie is A masterpiece, it doesn't really match the genius of Fargo.
A lot of people forget that in 1996 the Coens weren't popularly successful. They'd had critical acclaim with Blood Simple, Raising Arizona and Barton Fink, but it was Fargo that truly put them on the map. And why not? Fargo is just about as perfect a film as you can find.
The reason I consider this a step above No Country for Old Men is that Fargo offers pointed but not preachy philosophy about what truly matters in life and where genuine happiness comes from. No Country is brilliant, but it's also deeply nihilistic (which should come as no surprise, being based on a Cormac McCarthy novel).
Everything about Fargo is top-class. The acting, the cinematography, and especially the writing. The entire cast gives career-best performances, Roger Deakins creates incredible visuals out of the Minnesotan winter, and the dialogue mixes tragedy and comedy so well that they're almost indistinguishable. And at the center of it all is France McDormand in her Oscar-winning portrayal of a brilliant police chief.
The Coens have no shortage of classics, but this amazing film will always be my personal favorite.

Just as Nickelodeon began its reign as the best network for children's TV, The Pirates of Dark Water served as a reminder of Hanna-Barbera's mastery of animation.
It's a wonderful mix of science fiction and high fantasy, and while Hanna-Barbera's budgetary constraints are clear, it's more than made up for with excellent voice acting and endless creativity.
One of the biggest highlights is Brock Peters as the evil pirate king Bloth; he just oozes menace and even manages to be cruelly funny at times. The brilliant Tim Curry provides comic relief as Bloth's cremate Konk, Hector Elizando is pure charisma as the roguish Ioz, and Jodi Benson proves that she's not just a little mermaid with her spunky performance as Tula.
While the story itself borrows heavily from The Wizard of Oz, Star Wars and the like, the show offers enough originality in its designs and imagination to compensate. The show is also surprisingly mature for an animated series, offering death and violent adventure with equal glee.
Sadly, we'll likely never know what was to become of Ren's quest for the 13 Treasures of Rule, but what we did get will always be a nice secret handshake between fans.
