Better than I thought it would be, given the crappy reviews on its wikipedia page, but still, not very good. It moves really slowly, I assume because they were trying to create a "mood." In its favor, Tawny gets to spend pretty much the whole movie looking beautiful in silk bedrobes, Kathleen Wilhoite is outstanding in her very short role as the medium. The jump scares are pretty bad and predictable. Cinematography is good, but the whole thing needed to be improved by a couple more script edits. In all, I'd say five out of ten, but just for guys who like looking at Tawny. Zero out of ten for girls who don't care what Tawny looks like. 😆
I saw this movie when I was 13 or 14, when I knew absolutely nothing about romantic love (if my parents loved each other, they certainly never displayed it around me). So at my tender young age this movie stunned me, I had no idea this depth of emotion was possible. This movie taught me more about love than anything else I have ever experienced, including the tiny handful (three) of love relationships that I have had. Just watch it, if you're even vaugely human you will find it meaningful.
Unfortunately, I actually paid money to watch this tripe, and then actually wasted an hour and 39 minutes of my life watching it. Ordinarily, I think I'm better than most people at suspending disbelief when watching unrealistic movies, but the level of disbelief that's required to buy into this epic boondoggle defies logical description. It's sad, really, because the production value, the acting, and the action scenes are all very good, and for the first 50 minutes everything works together perfectly well. Then they had to Z off into utter cuckoo bananas land for pretty much the entire rest of the movie. Five out of 10 for the entertainment value of watching a movie that they spent this much money making that is so unutterably stupid.
