This is the best part of Grand Order so far. The other movies are... mediocre at best. The only fate movie triology that is good is Fate Heavens Feel.
I think if they made more series instead, it would've worked better. Or just one big series with multiple seasons.
With that said, to be able to understand this TV series properly you have to watch the original Fate series first, which are
1. Fate/stay night 2. Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works 3. Fate/Zero 4. Fate/stay night Heaven's Feel
Then after that to understand how "Grand Order" started and the references in this series:
1. Fate/Grand Order: First Order 2. Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia - Initium Iter
If you watched all of those, you'll enjoy this series much more.

I thought this series would be good. I was worried about the 2nd season, there were a lot of bad/disappointed reviews.
The first season was good. Introduction of the characters was interesting, the acting is good as well. Good amount of magic/special effects are present, although one of the three species felt like they hadn't anything that separates them from humans. Could've been done better there.
To keep it short, season 2 was a huge letdown. I only watched the first half and got enough. Almost everything is a downgrade from the first season. Lack of magic/special effects, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to watch this series. Overall a very boring, slow paced experience.

9 is too high so it is 8.5.
This one deserves some praise. As I watched episodes of the first season, I recognized similarities of something I watched more than 10 years ago. I did some digging and it turns out it was the film adaptation (golden compass). I couldn't really judge whether a movie is good or bad back then, so I thought it was fine. But now that I've watched this and I'm 10 years older, I can without doubt say that this adaptation is superior in any way. More in depth, better character design, better acting.
Lyra, Mrs Coulter and Lee were the best characters I've seen.
It has its quirks of course. But considering how difficult this is to do right in live action, it definitely can't go unnoticed.
Bravo. I can't wait for the new trilogy, "book of dust" to get a tv series adaptation like this one.
