I went in not expecting much and was very pleasantly surprised. It kept our attention for the entire length of the film, which is something most recent horror movies have been unable to do.
Excellent performances from Colby Minife and Kate Burton. Their chemistry was just right, and both played effortlessly off each other.
The movie was fast paced, the cinematography was beautiful and captivating.
If you liked A Dark Song and Anything For Jackson, you might enjoy this movie. It combines elements of both while retaining some uniqueness.
My only gripe is, much like A Dark Song, the final act was lackluster. The ending was rather abrupt and clunky. It would've been nice to see it fleshed out a little more.
Still, overall, a solid watch.

"Jake grew up in the public eye", says his mom Pam. "Every single mistake he made was public." Gee, Pam, whose fault is that as his parent who's supposed to be keeping an eye on him?
Jake and Logan's dad Greg says he would blow up all of LA with a button if he could. "That's terrorism", says Logan. His model fiancée Nina Agdal grimaces. At least someone in the family understands this is not something one should say. I wonder what the consequences would be if someone not in Greg's position of privilege went around spewing such psychopathy.
Admittedly, I watched nearly two episodes of this show because I was more interested in the significant others than the brothers themselves. Nina is beautiful, and perhaps the most likable cast member for a show where the bar is truly in hell. The other SO is okay. She's just there. So is her eyeliner.
Between the brothers, Logan Paul surprisingly came off better than I expected. He's possibly the most self aware of the bunch, and again, the bar is in hell. Jake was boring at best and cringey on average.
My least favorite cast members were the parents. Not a single redeeming factor about either of them, especially the father. After all, they're the ones to blame for everything. They created these two monsters, who they now mooch off of. The dad said he'd been trying to get a reality show going for five years now.
I tried to keep watching for the brothers' partners but this show is overall boring, uninspiring, and completely lacking in self awareness (and common decency at times). One would think content of this caliber is beneath HBO, but apparently not.

Unlike a lot of other fans of this franchise, I quite liked Horror In The High Desert 2. I loved the fast pace, the scares, the constant atmospheric tension. I loved the ending of the first one but got bored sick before the final fifteen minutes saved the film.
This one, IMO, combined the atmospheric tension of HITHD 2 with the boring documentary bits of HITHD 1. Plus lots of b-roll footage of desert.
I enjoyed that this film expanded upon the lore and introduced some new places that built upon the suspense surrounding the desert and the creatures.
Besides that, though, it lacked sufficient scares. I was neutral to the main character, I didn't like or dislike him one way or another. I wasn't able to connect with his backstory like I did with Minerva's.
I think this movie series would have been fun as a tv series. It's easy to forget what happened in the previous films and how each is connected because of how far apart the releases have been.
Overall, it wasn't a memorable addition to the franchise and felt more like filler. 5 stars for solid atmospheric tension, especially as it nears the end.
