So I had read that the film got bad reviews but that never stops me from seeing a film. I'm glad I did not listen to the reviews because I actually thought it was very well done and paid a great tribute to the original film. I was excited to see Jennifer, Freddy, and Sarah in this reboot. Since I saw the original in the theater when it first came out I really wanted to support the reboot. I thought it had just as many if not more jump scares than the original and the photography was great. Even the new characters were interesting to me and not the typical slasher film where you don't care about any of them. The only thing I'm not sure about was the ending, that though I understand why they did it, I have mixed feelings about it. But aside from that it was very entertaining and had very good and sunstantial scenes with the OGs. It was one of my favorite slashers of the '90s and I hope they make more and don't let the lower box office kill the franchise. I have a feeling though that this may be it, unfortunately, if more people don't see it. It would be a shame too.
Okay so this is a really dumb movie I will admit. It's certainly not going to win any awards but I will have to admit I laughed out loud several times. So just for that I give it higher marks. In particular the guy that plays Andy is hysterical. So over the top. Again this is a really silly movie but sometimes silly is all I want and just to laugh. I definitely would watch again. I didn't realize this was a made for TV movie made by comedy central. It does have a few recognizable stars as well. All in all if you want just a silly movie with a dump plot but want to laugh out loud this is your film. It's not super long either so that is a bonus.
So far I like this season better than the Ripper season. It is an interesting premise and I love the backdrop and setting. The characters are interesting and the acting is decent as are the kills. I am engaged so far and look forward to seeing future episodes. It's too bad they are not dropped all at once as I would definitely would binge this. I'm not sure if this is Slasher season 6 or a separate Anthology but I would actually like to see both. I hope they do have a season 6 separately. I like also that they have the same or many of the same actors for recurring seasons. It is almost like American Horror Story in that regards. So far I've been very pleased with the series.
