As a long time Dune fan, I was always worried just how anyone could transfer this into the video/film/TV world. Despite some heroic efforts and up until Dune the Movie came out all had failed. Dune has a self created problem, it was well ahead of it's time when Frank Herbert wrote it, and even after two or three readings of the first three originals. I still felt like a newcomer to the Spice universe. Years after reading all 6 of Franks books and all of. Brian Herbert and Kevin J Andersons's I now feel like an insider. Dune prophecy answers many questions, obviously about the Bene Gesserit. But also about the nature and beginnings of that entire universe. In all honesty I felt like a guide to my family and friends that watched Dune the Movie, trying to fill them in on the story. This is a great and far more effective guide than I, even my wife who is not a Sci-fi fan enjoys it and is beginning to understand what is emerging. It is great as a standalone series, but even better as a guide to the Dune movie franchise. Outstanding.
Imagine handing over material from another star to a bimbo with a degree from a thermometer and her fanboy. Thats all you need to know. The only spoiler for this film is the film itself. Remember life is short in the context of our universe and this film is STILL a waste of time.
The actors seem to be reading their lines off of sticky notes. The opening shots of the space shuttle seemed to be from an old Gerry Anderson puppet show maybe Fireball XL5 or Stingray..I could not in all honest recommend this film to even my worst enemy. However it could have a place in society as a humane alternative to the death penalty.
