  • A Disappointing Misfire - Sikandar Falls Flat on Every Front

Sikandar promised to be a gripping drama with intense storytelling, but unfortunately, it falls apart in every conceivable way. From a weak script to uninspired performances, the movie is an utter disappointment. The film struggles to find its identity, and the result is a tedious, forgettable mess that neither entertains nor evokes any emotional connection.

One of the biggest flaws of Sikandar is its lackluster script. The film attempts to blend elements of suspense, action, and drama, but it fails to do justice to any of them. The narrative meanders aimlessly, never quite establishing a compelling conflict or resolution. The pacing is painfully slow, making it a chore to sit through, and by the time it reaches its climax, any investment in the characters or story is long gone.

There are too many underdeveloped subplots that do nothing but prolong the runtime. Instead of delivering a tight and engaging narrative, the film becomes a sluggish sequence of loosely connected events. Scenes that should have carried emotional weight feel hollow, largely due to uninspired direction and poor writing.

Despite having a potentially talented cast, Sikandar wastes every opportunity to deliver a powerful performance. The lead actor, who should have been the emotional anchor of the movie, delivers a dull and lifeless portrayal of the protagonist. The character lacks depth, and any attempts at emoting feel forced and artificial. The supporting cast fares no better, with exaggerated performances that either border on melodrama or are completely disengaged.

Chemistry between the characters is nonexistent, making their interactions feel staged rather than organic. When the film requires them to deliver intense emotions, their expressions and dialogue delivery feel mechanical, failing to generate any real connection with the audience.

Visually, Sikandar is nothing to write home about. The cinematography is uninspired, with bland framing and awkward camera movements that make certain scenes unintentionally comical. The lighting and color grading add nothing to the atmosphere, leaving the film with a dull, lifeless look that mirrors its storytelling.

The editing is equally poor, with abrupt transitions and unnecessary slow-motion sequences that add nothing to the narrative. Instead of enhancing the movie, these stylistic choices come off as lazy and uninspired. The lack of creativity in visual storytelling only amplifies the film's overall mediocrity.

A good soundtrack can sometimes redeem a flawed movie, but unfortunately, Sikandar has no such saving grace. The background score is generic and repetitive, failing to elevate any scene. The songs, which seem forcibly inserted, lack soul and feel more like an obligation rather than a genuine attempt to enhance the story.

The sound design is also underwhelming. Dialogue delivery is inconsistent, and in some parts, the audio mixing makes it difficult to understand crucial conversations. This technical carelessness further highlights the movie's lack of polish and attention to detail.

Sikandar is yet another example of a film that aims high but crashes spectacularly. With a weak storyline, lackluster performances, subpar direction, and uninspired music, there's nothing redeemable about this movie. It neither offers anything new to its genre nor executes existing tropes effectively.

If you're looking for an engaging film with strong storytelling, this is definitely not the one. Sikandar is a waste of time and money, and its failure to deliver on any front makes it an easy skip. Save yourself the disappointment and watch something more worthwhile.

  • Go for this movie, you won't regret!

"Bachubhai" is a gem in Gujarati cinema that beautifully intertwines humor and emotion. The storyline captures the essence of life, relationships, and the simple joys that come with them. Siddharth Randeriya's performance as Bachubhai is nothing short of stellar-he breathes life into the character with his effortless charm and impeccable timing. But what truly stole my heart was Apara Mehta's portrayal, even in her small role. The scenes depicting their relationship were so touching that they brought tears to my eyes. The emotional depth, paired with top-notch comedy, will remind you of classics like "Munnabhai MBBS," yet it stands strong on its own, without feeling like a copy. The film strikes a perfect balance, making you laugh and cry in equal measure. I highly recommend watching "Bachubhai" on OTT for a heartfelt and entertaining experience.

  • Kalki: Borrowed Ideas and Awkward Execution Make for a Forgettable Film

I just watched Kalki and it's hard to express my disappointment.

First off, the movie is riddled with unnecessary comedic dialogues that feel completely out of place, especially given the supposedly intense theme. Prabhas, who is usually a powerhouse, sadly comes across as a CLOWNISH character here.

His performance is awkward and forced, making it difficult to take the film seriously. Kyra's character adds little value, with most of her screen time dedicated to pointless talks that drag the narrative down. The entire movie feels like it's overdoing everything-be it the action sequences, emotional moments, or the supposed "comedy," which is jarringly out of sync with the rest of the movie.

Kamal Haasan, despite being a legendary actor, has almost no role or screen presence. It feels like they used his name just to draw audiences, with no real contribution from him on-screen.

Additionally, the set-up blatantly borrows from Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) but fails miserably to capture the essence of the original. In the end, Kalki is a poorly executed, overhyped mess.

This one is a hard pass.
