So promising and yet so disappointing. Jessica Biel can't act and neither could anybody else in this series. The story line has been done so many times (everyone's a suspect - and it's not going to be the person who looks guilty) that ONLY GOOD ACTING and GOOD DIRECTING can make it worth watching. They give us the usual stuff like the overuse of the F word, drug addiction, childhood trauma, mad lesbian cop and the use of words and actions designed to show us how it is in the "real world" which is getting old. I do however believe that with better actors and better directing this could have been better.
I'm always up for a good biblical movie, but I wish I would have read the reviews before investing time in this one. I couldn't even get half way through without falling asleep. I guess that's because this movie has been done before only WAY BETTER. You could tell most of the actors were wearing wigs which looked so 1930's and screamed "cheap production". From the first 5 minutes it was obvious that nobody in this movie could actually ACT which definitely contributed to a very dull production. What a snooze fest. If you've seen The Chosen, this movie will really turn you off. So bad. Why did they even bother?
This movie was built around the premise of a high powered CEO who risks everything to have a torrid affair, which sounded so juicy, but failed to deliver on all accounts. Even all the sex scenes couldn't save this movie from being dull and done before. I never once got the impression she was "risking everything" and the lack of chemistry between Kidman and her male lead was painful to watch because you could literally feel the awkwardness between them and not in a sexually exciting way. Kidman has played the sexually frustrated/abused/bored housewife before and it's getting old. Speaking of old, Kidman looked too old to be playing the mother of "tweens" in this movie which was somewhat distracting. And what's with the orange hair? The male lead had absolutely NO "on screen" charisma which together with Nicole's done before sexually frustrated "act" made this movie plain BORING.
