Amazing tale with partially reversed roles. Here it is the heroin trying to save her prince, but we also see the prince trying to safe his princess. A couple fighting for each other.

Magical creatures and interesting characters we get to know.

It also includes messages about protecting our environment and many more.

Almost 30 years and I am still in love with tvis tale. They air it around christmas time in our county and it is so relaxing to watch it and I am an adult now saying this!

All girls were fascinated by this series when we were young and I can ask any women my age growing up in Europe during the 90s about this series. We all loved it. This was when we finally got a female character and princess that wasn't bland and made for men to be attracted, but a female role model and a cute guy we could look at too who is also brave and loyal to his princess.

Brigitte Nilson is also brilliant in this together qitht he rest of the cast.

Series like this are not made anymore these days. There was another forgatable serie similar to this published later, but this fell back into presenting girls boring stereotypes and not nearly as good as Fantagiró.

It is a must see for anyone.

  • An breath taking adaption while still different to the book

This film made me wanting to grab the book and read it. I started once and gave up as I was expecting it to be a annoying unrealistic love story. But After watching that film I grabbed the book. Hence it is a good preparation before starting to read the book without spoiling the book.

Wuthering Heights is still today one of the most misunderstood novel Emily's sister said until she died, that people and critics were not getting what her sister did. Till today unfortunately only few seem to get it.

So does the film not get it, but nevertheless this adaption finally made me grab the novel and read it. The film slightly touches the true nature of Wuthering Heights, but knowing Emilie's biography I felt this can't be the story really. To my surprise the novel was really more then we see in this movie. A more complex story.

Nevertheless, the movie was a fun thing to watch. It kept me on the hook. Tom Hardy is amazing. But like all attempts and adaptions this movie does the mistake to think Wuthering Heights is (only) a romantic love story, when it is not. Heathcliff and Catherine aren't even the main Characters of the book and the main character is actually left out completely in the movie adaption.

Even worth, actually there are two important characters completely none existence in the film. But the film serves people with what they want to see not what the book is actually about.

People know the author was a woman from 200 years ago, hence they expect her to be a wall flower that dreamed about romantic love and that this is what the story is going to be.

Then they get shocked with not finding lovely characters. Some can handle it some not. But what most people can not handle is that it is no love story, and the movie doesn't even tries to make the viewer see it. Most likely because the film maker didn't get that themselves or simply because they know such film wouldn't sell as it doesn't adds up to peoples expectations.

That is why we get a slightly shocking love story served only.

But guess what, it works due to great direction and a brilliant Tom Hardy.

People are always complaining how unlikable the characters are in the book or in adaptions.

But that is the point of the book. If you want a story about likable characters go grab a book or movie for children.

Others even claim there is some beauty in Catherine despite her character. No, there isn't and no one is supposed to identify with her or any character. And why does every woman has to be beautiful in stories?

I have to watch the movie again, but I think Catherine is not half as disgusting in the film then she is in the book. Again we are served a female stereotype in the film.

To some people a story is only good if they can identify.

Wuthering Heights doesn't work like this. Emily had other intention writing that book. If you are able to identify with Catherine in the movie, the movie does it wrong.

If you find anyone horrible in the film you are on the right track. It is no mistake. Characters can be fascinating even when they are annoying or horrible or both. Understanding this you can enjoy the crazy love story you are going to watch.

And if you feel the characters in the movie are not that horrible, go grab the book to see how a genius drafted really unlikable characters and it will be even more fun.

If you want experiencing cheering for a beautiful character to please commit suicide, feeling ashamed of doing so afterwards, you are ready for the book. Until then you are well advised to stick to this film adaption.

I give it 8 points therefore, despite containing just 20% of the book.
