X follows a group of young adults making an x-rated adult film. Set in the late 1970s (which is perfectly captured and recreated here) we learn that the old couple at the neighboring house are dangerous, disturbed and watching closely. Not to mention they also have a large pet alligator.
Amazing atmosphere - Cleary inspired by gritty Arthouse films of the era it is emulating. The original Texas chain saw massacre definitely plays a part with the overall look and vibe here. As well as another Tobe Hooper film - Eaten Alive, which also has a man-eating gator.
X delivers fun characters, some great kills and pays great respect to the grind house subgenre from the drive in theatre days.

Saw this on Tubi. Thought I'd check out after hearing director on podcast talking about making a tiny budget indie film. It's about a young woman who unsuspectingly ends up in the middle of an illegal organ harvesting operation during a road trip across Australia.
Learning this film was made for under $15k I was expecting it to be really rough around the edges and poorly made, but where it may lack shine, it makes up for with atmosphere and story. It's honestly quite remarkable that this was made with a tiny budget and small crew and manages to be as good as it is.
This thriller (not really a horror film despite the gloomy poster) is full of great cinematography and interesting characters.
Definitely an inspiring film to watch for those making films who limited by budget.
