This Series of eight episodes is just awesome. The script is excellent and all actors performances are fabulous. Altough the Final may seem abrupt, I can not see why should this Series be dragged on. But it definitely deserved a Second Season with Ali Kemal Ates, taking over the Intelligence division. This series should not be missed any longer: I just watched it in August 2025.
The focus of Esaret's Season 1 and 2 is unrequited love, jealousy and class conflict.
In Season 1, two story lines dwell together: Orhun and Hira / Kenan and Meryem. In Season 2 the story lines reunite. The "vilains" tend to always get away with murder and justice is not served.
The Cast, from Ms. Tümay Özokur, I find excellent for every and each character so far. The chemistry on-screen between Cenk Torun and Mahassine Merabet is unparalleled.
Totally invested for two years in the plot and its characters' development, this series made me to research into Türkiye history right from the Ottoman Empire to the XXI century and to start learning Turkish language.
I have read bad reviews about its slow script. But with all its story lines, Esaret is surely the epithet of Turkish Drama genre and patience. "Patience is not the ability to wait but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting" (Joyce Meyer). I am eagerly waiting for Season 3 in September 2024.
