After binge watching another show, this show just started playing. I didn't even know what it was, but the music and scenery just grabbed my interest. Well, I like it! Stefano Fresi, Commisioner Kostas, is funny, smart, onery, and tenacious. Good supporting cast, but my favorite is Adriana (Francesca Inaudi). She can be mousy (50's housewife), but behind that, she is fierce and strong. She really loves the difficult Kostas and it's entertaining to watch how they engage - clever with light, funny bantering. The plots are not all that mind boggling, but it's entertaining and I hope it continues. The only complaint, and this is on me, is that I have to really pay attention and follow the English subtitles. I don't speak Italian, maybe I might learn...LOL.
This is the most ridiculous, sappy series I've seen ever. The scenery is beautiful, that's the most positive comment I can make. It is also quite gay friendly, but over the top for such a small town. I am on season 4 and really could care less about ANY of these characters. Not one of them is consistent or predictable, or likable. Don't listen to the reviews that say it gets better...just the opposite...it get worse.
I wouldn't give the writers in this show a 'C' in high school literature. No imagination, and the story lines are so lacking in reality its laughable.
Final comment, the acting is REALLY bad. It's almost like the director has instructed the actors to ham it up. Season four new characters are such a joke. The new inspector, Eve, is so unbelievable as a police officer, let alone the leader of a police outpost. And lastly, how did a casting director even consider hiring the actress playing Brandi. Seriously awkward and annoying.

Very disappointing and dull. I won't repeat what other comments have already stated. I will add is that the flashback interjections while solving the crime are beyond annoying...they disturb the flow of the show.
I suppose the music is attempting to be reflective of the locale, but it is just uninspired and kitschy.
The characters are not interesting or likeable. Not oddball or funny enough to cause laughter and not talented enough to be believable.
I really wanted to like this show, but sadly it just tries to ride on the coattails of Death in Paradise and fails. Which wouldn't be necessarily bad, but perhaps the creators and writers could go back and watch old episodes of Death and get some inspiration.
