NestPrice's rating
This is my subjective opinion about this project.
Pros:
1. This is one of the coolest animations. (They went a bit overboard with it in the second season.)
2. The scene direction and directorial decisions in each episode were impressive. Thanks to this, the visuals look impeccable.
3. Facial animation is top-notch = excellent acting.
4. The series has a dynamic pace, which makes you want to keep watching and find out what happens next.
Neutral (Pros and Cons):
1. Characters: among them, there are both deeply developed ones and quite ordinary ones (including average). I hoped this would be a plus, but after season 2, questions remain about some of them. And it's a shame they were changed for the sake of not-so-great plot twists(
2. The plot in the first season was great, but in the second... obvious problems arose. Snippets of plot here and there, and scenes change too quickly. Some questions were not answered, especially with elements of arthouse and sharp turns towards the finale... for me, this raises doubts. Especially considering that I predicted a lot before the release of the second season. Many questions, but so few answers.
3. Emotions... I experienced them... insufficiently. In the first season, it was very good in terms of drama, but season 2 is empty. Yes, it's strange. How to describe it: these are things you understand, but they are not fully revealed in the series itself. Although I worried about three characters, in the end it seems that I was deceived about it... Therefore, if the franchise continues to develop, I'm afraid the finale of the second season may lose its value.
4. Themes and philosophical reflections are very interesting. In the second season, there weren't enough of them.
Cons:
1. Music and clips... I apologize, but I didn't like them in 65% of cases. Even the opening credits. And the clips (especially in the second season) became less appropriate (with the exception of two of them (especially the song "The Line" is very memorable); the rest could have been cut out, as the context of what was happening was clear. ).
Personal Note: After the second season, the series really feels like an experiment striving to please everyone. And in this, everyone will find interesting moments for themselves (though definitely not the clips... right?). Nevertheless, I will remember "Arcane" (like "Samurai Champloo" or "Attack on Titan," although it slightly or significantly falls short of them) as one of the bright things for me (even though it disappointed me towards the 2 season). The series had problems (as if another season is needed for this), but in general, the project has more or less coped, although with huge conventions in the plot. Season 1 is a benchmark of cool quality, which cannot be said about season 2 :("
