I kind of liked the first episode, but then it went downhill from there. My biggest question: How did these two obsessed lovers meet? They know each other before revealing that Anna is William's son's girlfriend. I kept waiting to find out the backstory that never came. The casting seemed odd. William and Ingrid's children did not resemble either parent. When William crushes the champagne flute in his hand, it was so unbelievable that I laughed. He should have been bleeding all over the party, but he calmly cleaned up the mess and the wound healed as if it were some sort of miracle stigmata. Other ridiculousness included a scene where Jay is pursuing William in the London Underground. They are the only two people using the entire transit system. Give me a break. The excuse that William sells his daughter when she finds the torn page from Anna's diary was overly flimsy, but Sally just shrugs and buys the load of crap. This series seemed to be an excuse to film an extraordinary and unnecessary amount of sex scenes, most of which were quicker than expected. I'll give it four stars since I did make it through the whole thing and it did entertain me, albeit in a frustrating, wake-me-up-when-it's-over manner.
Another reviewer stole my thunder. It is true, they showed generic shots of Lisbon at the beginning and once in the middle to make you think that they were in Lisbon. As someone who knows Lisbon well, I could tell where they were most of the time-Cascais and Sintra. I was looking forward to something in Lisbon but I was happy to see some other familiar places. The story was typical Hallmark stuff and I thought Lucas' character changed really abruptly. Maybe that was the point. He was always like that and we just discovered it around the midpoint of the movie. I enjoyed it more than anything because it was filmed in Portugal (if not in Lisbon per se) and the nostalgia factor made me give it an 8/10.
