I was thinking that Barbie was going to be a light hearted family movie.....it is not. You don't want to take the kids to this movie. I mean that was probably obvious from the trailer, casting and vibe. But if you were looking for a fun movie to take you away from the everyday heaviness...this is not that movie. If you want eye candy and lots of posturing and narrative sequences, then this movie is for you....otherwise I'd say don't go. Greta Gerwigs third directorial outing could have been so much more....sadly it does not live up to the hype. I just don't understand why they can't seem to make enjoyable movies that transport you away anymore.

Fantastic action movie. One long action sequence reminded me of the Temple of Doom. It was awesome. Some of the ways they had Rake dispatch bad guys were unique and had you rewinding a couple times to see it again. At the end of some action sequences you were having astonished belly laughs as if you just stepped off an exciting ride. Also, the movie was mostly seriously done. In other words, no cheesy characters. Was there a little implausiblility? Yeah...but it's an action movie. There were little to no politics included, which for me make for the best films these days. I'm hoping for a third movie. Well done!

This is a worn out story of recycled material that will bore children. The characters are one dimensional. The scenes are tepid and unexciting. The use of elements to convey human emotion is a nice idea but the execution is not good. The animation was okay but not unique. Certainly nothing to go out of your way for. The depth of the character development seems shallow. The musical score is middling. The editing is choppy. The sound mixing is fair. The scene to scene progression is awkward and the run time is longer than one might expect from the material in the movie. My overall impression is that it can be missed.
