I had high hopes. I'm a sucker for murder of the week-brilliant outsider solves the crime with a nice mix of drama and comedy . L really like Daniel Sunjata and Judy Reyes and I think they do a great job with what they have.
I also really like Kaitlin Olson. But she is so out of place for the role. Talk about square peg round hole. Its so cringey. The writing and directing is very average. The overall cases are fine, but how they put it together stumbles.
The close up cuts to Kaitlin Olson while shes having her epiphany moment, and the random factoids she frequently buffers them with make me groan. I'm fine with the formula, but the way they go about it combined with her performance just does not play well imo. At this point I keep playing it as background noise. Even then I find myself getting up to fast forward some scenes.

I started out hopeful and was really into the potential of the series. I grew up in the south and know Florida really well, so that appealed to me.
It also seemed like it was going a long a fun hijinx sort of way. But the story got silly. Delly is especially hard to take, the father Sonny was also hard to take. Edgar Ramirez aside from looking uncertain most of the time did the better job.
This is not where the bar should be for a "fun summer fling". The story was there but dialogue and acting was impossible. And I love my fair share of camp and things no one else would like.
Bottom line: not even cheesey, just bad.
