For weeks after I watched One Punch it stayed in my mind. I turned it over in my thoughts and tried to puzzle out what could have gone differently for the characters. It led to reflection about schools and teens and parenting and those crucial tasks of adolescence - differentiating from family and aligning with others. Independence, duty, alliance, alienation..... consequences.
The closeness of the cinematography contributed to the sense of reality and familiarity, recognition.
A film to share and put on school curriculums. It will generate valuable reflections and emotions, and most probably discomfort. To encourage self-growth, all of those elements are necessary and One Punch delivers them well.
