  • A Missed Opportunity for Depth

The 2024 adaptation of Salem's Lot feels like a rushed endeavor that struggles to capture the essence of Stephen King's iconic novel. The pacing is relentless, giving little room for the story or its characters to breathe. Key moments that should build tension or evoke emotion are hurriedly glossed over, leaving viewers with a sense of detachment rather than immersion.

The lack of character development is particularly disappointing. Instead of delving into the complex relationships and inner struggles that made the novel so compelling, the film merely skims the surface. It feels less like a story being told and more like a summary being recited-devoid of the richness and atmosphere that King's work demands.

One can't help but wonder how much better Salem's Lot could have been if it had been adapted as a series for TV. A slower, episodic format would have allowed time to explore the characters, build suspense, and truly convey the creeping dread that defines the story. Instead, the film's rushed approach sacrifices depth for brevity, leaving the audience with an experience that feels incomplete and uninspired.

In the end, Salem's Lot (2024) is a missed opportunity-a superficial retelling that pales in comparison to the novel's depth and complexity. For fans of King's work, it's a disappointment that serves as a reminder of the value of taking the time to let a story unfold.

  • Den sämsta film som någonsin gjorts

The whole film looks like something put together by high Community College students, but the students should have studied automotive instead of film. The script is terrible, and so are the makeup and costumes. How did Ewa Röse end up in this?

One of the unintentionally funniest scenes is when they are about to break into the bank and are sitting with a blueprint of the building that says BANK VAULT. Yes, because that's surely what blueprints look like in real life, maybe in the Donald Duck comics... I don't know if they were hoping this film would be so bad it becomes good, but unfortunately, it's just bad.

It's incomprehensible how they could release this film on DVD again in 2023 in a new edition. There can't be anyone who wants to see this?

  • I was glad to find this on Blu-ray

I was eager to revisit Larry Clark's film "Bully" since I first saw it after its release, as it profoundly impacted me. I was pleased to find a release from Australia.

However, upon watching it again, I wasn't as impressed. It hasn't aged well, with many of its aesthetics feeling stereotypical for independent films from that era.

The film leaves much to interpretation, which appealed to my younger self, but upon rewatching, I realized much of it was my imagination.

While films that provoke thought and reflection on characters are valuable, "Bully" falls short with shallow characters and a fragmented narrative, leaving too much room for interpretation.

Despite its flaws, the film has potential. If it were made today, it would probably tell this complex story in a different manner, which would still make the audience reflect on the story, not letting our minds fill all the plot holes.
