I don't understand how this film is rated so high. I saw someone else say there's no intellectual density to it and I completely agree. I have to force myself to pay attention. Typically if I'm not feeling a film I'll come back later on and give it a couple more chances, but every time I've come back I actually found myself disliking it more and more. A few of these early Aussie films he was in are just a little too off the rocker for my liking, and not only that but there's just something about them that absolutely bores me to pieces. Im not sure what it is exactly but I'm glad he started doing American films where his brilliance was seen because it definitely was never going to be shown in something like this.
Alright let's talk about the issue no one wants to talk about anymore. Inclusivity is absolutely wrecking these movies. They'll throw any so-so actress in a masculine role now just to keep up with the standards. Have you guys read the new standards to he considered for an Oscar? It's absolutely disgusting. This has gone way too far. I love women with all my heart and want them to live their lives to the fullest too, but telling someone their movie isn't worthy because they didn't have enough lead roles from underrepresented groups or the casts background wasn't underrepresented enough for their liking, isn't right. This is the quality of film you get when you allow this crap. Instead of a solid actress like, Julia Garner, you get Grace Baker.
The first 20 minutes of the film are fairly solid. It captured my attention. Which was promising because a lot of movies made in the last 3 years have been absolute garbage. But, only about 5-10 minutes later, was that attention let off the hook.
Here enters Jane. Played by Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz. I get she's "robotic" but can we have her be a little more exciting? That monotone voice was very hard to listen to the whole time. Get someone as witty as Guy in there please. Talk about this turning into a background movie.
That's the quality we're getting nowadays. Background movies. Something that alright enough to put on but you're never going to actually watch the whole thing.
