I did not hate this movie. I've seen a lot worse from M. Night. I think a lot of us go into his movies expecting another Sixth Sense or Signs, which is probably unrealistic for us to do. That being said, this movie relies on the fact that all the characters are incompetent. That's not a SWAT team or police force I'd want protecting ME. Why do some of the characters make the decisions they make? Why do we have to watch an entire concert of M. Night's daughter? (I did think the songs were kind of bops, but I didn't see a point in including THAT much concert.) Also maybe I just don't know Josh Hartnett well enough, but I thought his acting through most of the movie was not very good. It seemed way overdone or something. And the twist was a tad disappointing; my husband came up with a better one while sitting next to me.
Bottom line, entertaining for sure but if the characters acted like real human beings and were competent at their jobs, this movie wouldn't have worked.
