We're suppose to believe and have sympathy for tough guy who has to keep drinking and lying on the street because if he's sober he won't get a proper job but will become a vicious criminal. In fact he's so torn up with killing innocents in the army that he can't stop himself taking a job beating people up for a Chinese gang.
Then there's the nun who of course wants a one night stand with him before going to Afica.
Guy has a daughter he loves but doesn't do anything apart from giving her some photos of himself.
This film is isery for the sake of misery and clearly aimed for the impressionable who think it's full of emotion and drama when it's jsut the most awful film I can think of at the moment.
What's really really scary os the number of people who think it's a good film. That is terrifying.

Basically a film about a most unlikeable guy having two women fall in love with him, but you're told at the beginning he gets shot, the main draw of the film being to wait and see him get shot!!
The plot is not funny, not noir, in fact it is quite absurd. This guy Joe is so impolite, so arrogant, in fact one of the most arrogant losers in film history, that the only reason for wanting to watch the film to the end is to see him get shot. How any woman could fall in live with him, even a nut job like Norma is beyond belief.
Also Max as a former husband now a servant, is too much of a self congratulating joke to be funny.
As for for horror, the film itself is horrible, not a horror film, but it does become a real life horror when one first sees what all the critics raved about, and this the only 1 star review here from the general audience.

I'm at a loss to understand the good reviews that rave about how clever smirky Jane is to find the killer. In EVERY episode they ONLY get the killer because they confess. Voluntarily!!
Each episode is a sequence of irrelevancies, as the killer is clearly just waiting for the right moment to casually, in conversation, suddenly start to say that they did it and how they did it, and why they did it.
I'd originally thought that the series was an insult to the viewer's intelligence but having read some of the rave reviews it seems that's what people want these days - totally tripe and nonsense, not just for one episode but made into a template to be continually repeated!!
