(S)KiDS is about a teenager named Scotty that transfers to a new school. Initially ostracised, he finds himself a friend group and girlfriend. Things don't turn out peachy kin, however, as this movie deals with heavy issues like suicide and drugs. In that regard, it is a very powerful story of self-accceptance and maturity.
The animation is rather nice. There is some stillness, but the character's facial expresssions and mouths are fluid in spte of the corners they had to cut elsewhere. The character designs are rather cute, which makes the horrible things that happen stick the landing even more.
Overall a nice work from Rare Americans.

Elio was a movie that underwent a lot of behind the scenes meddling. Originally this was supposed to be the story of a gay child coping with isolation, but Disney, ever appealing to conservatives, deleted that in favor of a story that would "appeal to everyone".
Judging by the box office, this didn't work.
I in good consciousness cannot recommend this movie. Even past the behind the scenes drama, the movie itself is forgettable. There are a few redeemable parts, like instead of a Galactic Federation the aliens essentially have a Galactic Club, and the fact that nobody is fooled by the clones.
But that's not enough to salvage a story that Disney utterly destroyed.

Lucky Kid is the standard "babies spinoff" series, in this case of beloved Franco-Belgian cowboy Lucky Luke.
Frankly, other than the main character, the series has very little to do with him. The cast is entirely revamped so if not for him it could stand out as a mediocre original series. And he's out of character two; whereas the original is notable for his disdain of romance, here he gets two girl crushes.
The plots and characterisation are hyper simplistic even for a show aimed at kids, and I swear I felt my neurons being sucked away by this drivel.
A positive I suppose is the diversity of character ethnicities, since the actual wild west had in fact large black and latino populations (not to mention native americans). However, this backfires because there is only one token black kid and one token native kid.
Overall a must skip.
