timmovoosa's rating
A cheap little thriller for children, full of klichès. All men were look-a-like "Ken"s, spinning around "Barbie". Poor acting, even poorer story, probably written by some kid for a school theatre. Every next move was predictable and almost ridiculous. Constantly falling and sweating and overly nervous protagonist and calm and beautiful men, bfff ... I was hoping some quality time based on critics ratings which are here in "green", but was really disappointed. How can they like it? Unless somebody paid for them for positive reviews. I was even angry i watched this and wasted my time with it. Avoid, total nobrainer.
When rating watched movies, i always feel like there's something could be done differently or better, so even for "very good" movies i give 9 star.
This is my first 10 star rating. It's a perfect movie.
It's quite difficult to describe it as the whole movie has so many layers. It was emotionally on the edge and nervewrecking, very painful to watch. Even when you start to see the faint ray of hope, it soon vanishes brutally. But that's how the life was after the WW1. Povetry and broken people.
It was also visually gorgeous, eventhough there's nothing gorgeous in that movie.
Highly recommended, but not for snowflakes.

As the whole movie is a little confusing, i somehow understand those 1 and 2 star ratings. It started as a "regular" witty familymovie, but soon gets too weird for some people (for my wife, for example). I could even say, it's a bit Lanthimos-style. In the end i couldn't understand, which part is protagonists imagination and which is actually happening. It is what it is, but Amy Adams did absolutely stellar role, probably her best. Totally different as we used to see her - she's gain a lot of weight, no make-up and 0% sexy in here. I loved, that the whole family didn't have names, just "husband" and "baby". So yes, it was a bit mess, but i (50+ male) enjoyed it.
